Teardrop was originally released by Massive Attack as a single on 27 April 1998 and was featured on the excellent album ‘Mezzanine’. This reinterpreted version creates a new slant on this classic track by using electric guitar to replace the vocal melody. It loosely follows the original and features some new additions. Atmospheric, echoing electric guitar over gentle and spacious synths with effects. A deep sub-bass provides a brooding intro to the track with delayed electric guitars followed by a series of distorted electric guitar solos. Between these solos are quiet synths.

Journey has an epic, wide, cinematic feel to it with searing lead guitar over broad swathes of synth and effects. It is a nod to the early days of progressive rock from the likes of Pink Floyd and would provide an excellent soundtrack to a video focussing on travel in open spaces and panoramas.

This track is a cover version of a track on Simple Minds ‘Street Fighting Years’ album released in 1989. The bass, keyboards and drums were created by Christophe Avril, electric and acoustic guitars played by Pete Simcoe and vocals by Iain Tucker.

[...] Pete Simcoe of the trio said “We all really love this song and I grew up learning my slide guitar skills by playing to Burchill’s classic riffs on this track and others. We started work on the cover when Chris sent me the audio file from France after playing around with the arrangement in his spare time and I then put some guitars over the top. I’ve never met the guy but its a sort of European ‘collaboration to show our appreciation’. Iain, who I recently met at an open mic night came along and sorted the vocal in a couple of takes so its a curious meeting of similar minds as it were.” Pete went onto say, “The whole project is for fun and for the fans of this track! We’re hoping the band give it a listen and wonder what their take on it might be.”

Deep and brooding synth piece with a cinematic feel. This is the sort of track you might find in a Michael Mann film. The initial contemplative light feel is followed by a sequence with drums to add depth. An arpeggiator adds further depth and the final section reaches a conclusion with slightly heavier drums.
